On the other hand, "About this Mac" and "System Profiler" report 8 GB. create VM with type Mac OS X and version Mac OS X (64-bit) I set RAM to 4096, not sure that is optimal create thje VM with a virtual hard drive of format VDI (I chose dynamically allocated) to get it to boot from the CD, I started the VM and then went to Devices menu > CD/DVD Devices > Choose a virtual CD/DVD disk file., then navigated to choose yosemitefixed.dmg. Not having a handy spare Mac on which to install the Yosemite Developer Beta, I decided it was time to try my first OS X Virtual Machine. As I said in the bug report, the "Activity Monitor" and "top" reveal only 3.5 GB allocated.
